SHSS - Islamic History/Islamic Studies

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS) at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco seeks qualified applicants for a full-time position in Islamic History or Islamic Studies. The successful candidates will be able to teach a broad range of undergraduate and graduate-level courses covering Islamic histories, cultures, societies and Islamic humanism. A Ph.D. in History, Islamic Studies or a closely related field is required. Depending on specific credentials and experience, appointments will be at the rank of Assistant Professor or Associate Professor. The successful applicant will be expected to offer a range of undergraduate and graduate-level courses. Evidence of an active research agenda and a willingness to fulfill faculty service expectations to SHSS and to the University are also required. As AUI is a liberal arts institution, students come from a variety of disciplines and majors across the University.

Short-listed candidates will be invited to interview on Microsoft Teams and may be invited to offer a 30- minute demonstration class pending results of the initial interview. The successful candidate will be expected to assume this position on 21 August 2023.
