  • Anne Shillingsburg has taught high school English and senior project at ASI for six years and served as high school principal for two. Her Bachelor of Science degree from Wake Forest University is in Biology and English. Anne spent several years as an English teacher in China before returning to the U.S. to get a master’s degree in English literature from Indiana University South Bend. She has lived in Morocco since 2006 and joined AUI first in the Language Center, where she taught from 2008-2013. During her first several years at ASI, Anne worked toward expanding elective options for students in the secondary school and implementing tools for greater communication with parents. Anne became coordinator for the secondary school in 2015, and in 2017, shepherded the move of ASI high school to the AUI compus. In her English classroom, Anne strives to make learning student-driven, with emphasis on game participation, presentations, and literature circle discussions, while maintaining a rigorous course of reading and writing. As Interim Director of ASI, her primary focus is on making ASI a community where teachers and students feel at home, and improving communication between ASI, parents, and the university. In her own time, she enjoys spending time with her family, reading, running, and knitting.
