Connell R. Monette is Associate Professor of Islamic and Religious Studies in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane (AUI), where he was the founding chair of the Islamic and Religious Studies graduate program. He holds a Ph.D. in Medieval Studies from University of Toronto (2008), and his major areas of research are medieval literature, mysticism, religion, and Maliki jurisprudence. Monette is the project leader of the official English translation of the Royal Moroccan Edition of Imam Malik’s Muwatta, as well as the author of Mysticism in the 21st Century (2015) and The Medieval Hero (2012). He has also served at Al Akhawayn University as the Mohammed VI Library Associate Director, and prior the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs.
