
ISYA 2004 will be held at Al Akhawayn
University in Ifrane (AUI), which offers large campus facilities and
a good observational site. Ifrane is a resort town located in the Middle
Atlas Mountains (map), at an altitude of 1,600 m
(about 5,000 feet). Set in the heart of a region known for its beautiful
oak and cedar forests, mountains, springs, streams, lakes and waterfalls,
Ifrane provides an excellent backdrop for intellectual and physical pursuit.
Ifrane is just 60 kilometers away from the historically rich imperial
cities of Fez
and Meknes,
80 kilometers from the Roman ruins of Volubilis and Moulay Idriss Zerhoun,
and 200 kilometers from the Moroccan capital Rabat.
Ifrane is easily accessible by automobile, bus and taxi.
Winters in Ifrane can be cold with significant snowfall and summers
are mild. Winter temperatures vary from near freezing to 20 (Celsius),
and summer temperatures vary from 20 to 30.
