The Writing Center

Resources for Students

If you are a student and wish to attend the Writing Center for help or advice:

Email us at wcenter@aui.ma or telephone the Center at 2482 or 2430. Alternatively, just drop in with your assignment and we will help you produce good quality work and to improve your writing.

Tips for Writing Center Clients

  • Please be sure to bring your assignment. If you do not have an assignment with you, it may be difficult to provide appropriate advice
  • Be ready to work with someone on your writing; please do not expect a proofreading service
  • Recognise your role in improving your writing: in partnership with a tutor, you can identify those aspects of your writing that could benefit from refinement
  • All Writing Center Tutors are equally effective: do not suppose you need a specific tutor
  • Give yourself time to improve: review the drafts you have worked on with a tutor on your own and revise with lots of time before submitting
  • This is not a paid service; it's free, so be gracious, punctual and collaborative
  • Make your appointment several weeks in advance of the deadline
