Leadership Development Institute

Program

The approach taken in the Leadership Institute is to expand the leadership education provided by courses in the Schools of Business Admininstration, and Humanities and Social Sciences in a co-curricular way to accomplish leadership development of students at AUI. The program will combine highly experiential, learner-focused workshops plus a speaker-discussion series and student involvement in class, community or club activities, to provide a rich developmental experience. Most workshop sessions will be 2 hours long though some workshops may be longer for adequate practice. Some sessions will be required, while others can be attended on a “menu select” basis to meet the requirements for completion.

The educational rationale is for students to encounter and practice skills and knowledge in workshops, reinforce this learning through interaction with speakers and discussions, and apply that learning in their involvement with student and community groups.
