6. SIMON FRASER UNIVERSITY (CANADA) When? The program commences on August 6th, 2010 with a welcome dinner and concludes on August 31st, 2010 with a farewell lunch. What? The aim of this program is to increase students’ confidence in using English on a daily basis, and to provide interesting, thought-provoking exposure to Canadian culture. Program activities develop students’ English language skills through focus on discovering Vancouver and Canadian culture. Class work focuses on language skills as they are integrated into study and discussion of interesting ideas. Each week material on a different theme will be used for listening, grammar and vocabulary practice, discussion, reading and writing. Well-qualified and experienced instructors present information, guide student practice, and provide coaching and evaluation of progress.
