Ifrane participate at the World Clean up Campaign of the planet

The Center of Environmental Issues and Regional Development of Al Akhawayn University organized the Weekend “Clean Up the World” on the 25 and 26 September 2004 in collaboration with local authorities, Ifrane Municipality, the Delegation of National Education of Ifrane Province, Royal Military High school, Al Akhawayn University Students’ Environment Club, Moroccan Foundation of Nature and Man and the Association Environment for All.

The launching of the Campaign was carried out by the Delegate of Education of Ifrane Province, the Director of the Royal Military High School of Ifrane, the President of the Town council of Ifrane city and the Executive Director of the Center of Environment of Al Akhawayn University, Prof. Bachir Raissouni.      

Approximately 100 participants carried out the garbage collection down town of Ifrane, in gardens and the meadow and at the central market of the city. The population was very impressed by this citizen action and by the motivation of young pupils of Ifrane Province the schools and students Al Akhawayn University.

At midday, the participants attended the documentary film projection on Clean up the World Campaign as well as the garbage collection and public awareness campaign organized by the Center of Environment of Al Akhawayn University in the occasion of the World Environmental Day of June 5, 2004. Work of groups relating to environmental education, the selective sorting in particular and the good practices of sorting and cleanliness were offered to Al Akhawayn University with the participants. The pupils and their framing then proceeded to the evaluation of these activities while wishing to multiply these actions within their schools, districts and around their medium.

On Sunday, Participants went on a field trip to Zaouiate Oued Ifrane for an educational walk and  Cleanliness Campaign of natural sites (forest, rivers, village…)
