Chapter 2: POSITION DESCRIPTION
Q. DIRECTOR OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES AND ORGANIZATIONS:
Position Title:
Director of Student Activities and Organizations
Functional Description:
The Director of Student Activities and Organizations
is responsible for assuring that the student-life programs of
the University are planned, organized and implemented in a manner
that complements the academic mission and enriches the quality
of student life.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Develops and implements extra-curricular
and co-curricular activities and experiences
which supplement the academic experiences
of students and contribute to their education
and personal and professional growth.
- Ensures that students are presented with a diversity of cultural
experiences, such as concerts, theatrical plays and other forms
of the arts that will contribute to educational and cultural
development.
- Provides guidance and supervision for student clubs and organizations.
- Establishes rules and regulations of student conduct and adjudicates
charges of student misbehavior.
- Supervises student publications, the selection and supervision
of students who edit and direct them and the establishment and
implementation of policies and procedures for their operation.
- Establishes, maintains and supervises student recreational
activities and promulgates rules and regulations thereof.
- Supervises the University's overall sports activities and
related travel within Morocco.
- Prepares and administers an annual budget and ensures the
accountability of all expenditures, purchases and other financial
transactions.
Reporting Line:
The Director of Student Activities and Organizations
reports to the Dean of Student
Affairs.
Span of Control:
Reporting to the Director of Student Activities
and Organizations are the following:
- Sports Coordinator
- Students Publications Supervisor
- Students Clubs
Qualifications:
The Director of Student Activities and Organizations
should hold a masters degree in student
personnel development, higher education or a related field of
study and should have had significant experience in the student-life
field. He or she must demonstrate a strong interest in students,
have empathy for them and enjoy working with them. The Director
must be an adept administrator and a strong leader who can foster
student and must be prepared to work long hours in an atypical
schedule. Since AUI is a unique international university, he
or she must be particularly sensitive to the needs of international
students and be able to communicate verbally in English, French
and Arabic.
