P. DIRECTOR OF INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMS:
Position Title:
Director of International Programs
Functional Description:
Director of International Programs coordinates
and directs international education activities and programs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works with the Director of Enrollment
Management in the recruitment of international
students.
- Provides special academic services to international students.
- Provides assistance to international students and faculty
concerning immigration, health, taxes, housing, and other matters
of concern to them.
- Provides supervision of international students to help assure
their success at AUI and their safety while in Morocco.
- Develops and supervises Study Abroad Programs for AUI students.
- Conducts special short courses and conferences for international
students on topics of concern to them but which are not covered
in formal courses, including but not limited to language proficiency,
the laws of Morocco, and religious and social customs of the
country.
- Sponsors international conferences and institutes at AUI for
scholars from other countries.
- Working with the academic deans and department chairs, develops
student and faculty exchange programs with U.S. and other international
universities.
- Represents the University's membership in regional and international
associations devoted to international education.
- is responsible for follow-up on cooperative agreements between
AUI and international universities and other international partnership
programs.
- Assists academic programs and schools in arrangements for
visiting faculty and scholars from other countries.
Reporting Line:
Director of International Programs reports
to the Dean of Student Affairs.
Span of Control:
Reporting to the Director of International
Programs and Services are the following:
- Staff as deemed appropriate
Qualifications:
Director of International Programs and Services should hold a
graduate degree, preferably a doctorate,
that will command respect among scholars and international dignitaries
with whom he or she interacts. He or she must have international
experience either as a student or faculty member and should have
travelled widely. The Director of International Programs must
evidence a strong interest in international students and in international
education, and must be knowledgeable about governmental rules
and regulations governing visiting international faculty and the
enrolment of international students at AUI. Director of international
programs must be knowledgeable and sensitive to matters of protocol
to support AUI's role as a leading international university and
must be multilingual, with competence in Arabic, French and English.
