Chapter 2: POSITION DESCRIPTION
M. THE EXECUTICE DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT AND COMMUNICATION:
Position Title:
Executive Director of Development and Communication
Functional Description:
The executive Director of Development and
Communication is responsible for AUI’s relationships with
its external constituencies and for the development and solicitation
of private gifts and
grants to the University
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Exercises general supervisory and administrative
responsibility for:
- the preparation and dissemination
of news and information about the
activities and
accomplishments of the University,
its executives, staff, faculty, students
and alumni
- advising the executives of the University
in communications areas
the organization and activities of
the Alumni Association of the University
the planning and implementation of
programs and campaigns for the development,
solicitation and receipt of private
gifts and grants to the University;
and
- the planning, preparation and distribution
of the University’s informational
literature
- Prepares and administers the operating budget for the division
- Selects, appoints, supervises and evaluates the staff of the
division.
Reporting Line:
The Executive Director for Development and
Communication reports to the President of the University
Span of Control:
Reporting to the Executive Director of Development
and Communication are the following:
- Internal Communication Officer
- External Communication Officer
- Development Officer
- Events Coordinator
- Alumni Career and Orientation Officer
Qualifications:
The Executive Director of Development and
Communication must hold at least a masters degree in an appropriate
field and have significant experience in fund-raising. He or
she must exceptional communication and public relations skills
and be acknowledgeable of the various communications media
The Executive Director of Development and Communication must
be knowledgeable of rules, regulations, laws
and practice relative to raising private
funds to support the University. He or she must be competent in
Arabic, French and English.
