7. Sick Leave Policy
The following sick leave policy highlights AUI’s regulations concerning salary payment when the employee is away from work due to illness. It concerns both academic and non-academic personnel of AUI in Ifrane. Any duration of sick leave must be properly documented by a medical certificate communicated to HRO.
7.1 Academic Personnel
The policy concerns two distinctive categories of faculty:
- Academic Personnel not eligible to CNSS
- A sick leave of absence equal or less than 10 working days over one fiscal year is not deductible from salary.
- Any sick leave over the allowed 10 working days is deductible from the salary.
- Academic personnel enrolled to CNSS
- For a sick leave of absence equal or less than 10 working days over one fiscal year, AUI provides an extra payment of 100% -up to the salary amount- added to the amount reimbursed by CNSS.
- Any sick leave over the tolerated 10 working days is deductible from the salary. AUI will provide no complement of salary to the amount reimbursed by CNSS.
For absences equal or less than 10 days, faculty members are required to make up for the missed classes. Special cases will be presented, based on a committee proposal, to the President for final approval or deliberation. Committees in charge of examining such cases are designated by the VPAA.
7.2 Non-academic personnel
Four categories are concerned by the following policy:
- Heads of Departments not affiliated to government institutions:
This category includes executive officers, heads of services of manager rank or higher:
- For a sick leave of less than 10 working days over one fiscal year, AUI provides an extra payment of 100% -up to the salary amount- added to the amount reimbursed by CNSS.
- A sick leave of more than 10 working is deductible from the salary. AUI will provide no complement of salary to the amount reimbursed by CNSS.
- Heads of departments affiliated to government institutions:
This category includes executive officers, heads of services of manager rank or higher:
- A sick leave equal or less than 10 working days over one fiscal year is not deductible from salary.
- Any sick leave over the allowed 10 working days is deductible from the salary.
This category includes administrative support personnel and supervisory staff of Maintenance and Security. Only full time permanent employees are eligible.
- A sick leave of less than 20 working days over one fiscal year will be complemented by AUI following the schedule below:
- 1st week –equivalent to 5 working days-: full extra payment up to salary amount, as added to the amount reimbursed by CNSS.
- 2nd week –equivalent to 10 working days-: 60% extra payment up to salary amount, as added to the amount reimbursed by CNSS.
- 3rd week –equivalent to 15 working days-: 40% extra payment up to salary amount, as added to the amount reimbursed by CNSS.
- 4th week –equivalent to 20 working days-: 20% extra payment up to salary amount, as added to the amount reimbursed by CNSS.
- A sick leave of more than 20 working days over one fiscal year does not entail further payment from AUI.
Any exception shall be examined by a committee designated by the VPFA and presented to the President for final recommendation.
This category includes Grounds and Maintenance workers, security agents and building agents.
- Sick leaves are deductible from the salary.
Special cases are presented, based on a committee proposal, to the President for final approval or deliberation. Committees in charge of examining such cases are designated by the VPFA.
