2. Medical and Disability Insurance
The following insurance policy highlights AUI’s regulations concerning enrollment of academic and non-academic personnel to the medical insurance subscribed by the University.
2.1 Eligibility:
All permanent administrative and technical personnel are entitled to medical and disability insurance.
Full time Moroccan faculty are eligible to the medical and disability insurance program.
Faculty on secondment and full time international faculty may choose to enroll (employee-only or family coverage) in the medical insurance upon payment of the related premiums.
Part time employees are not entitled to the medical insurance of the University.
Family coverage (spouse and children) is allowed for permanent personnel only. While children of both female and male employees are automatically covered, only non-working spouses are entitled to this benefit upon submission of a certificate of unemployment.
Temporary personnel whose contracts are for three (3) months period or more are eligible to the medical insurance.
2.2 Basic Insurance Benefits:
- Reimbursement of 100% for surgery and subsequent hospitalization expenses up to 30,000.00 MAD with the possibility of bearing medical costs.
- Reimbursement of up to 80% of medical, pharmaceutical and hospitalization expenses.
Optics
- Reimbursement of up to 80% of expenses paid for glass lenses (prices of opticians in Morocco).
- Frames are reimbursed within a limit of 800MAD every two years.
Dental Care
- Reimbursement of up to 80% (prices of dentists in Morocco).
- Reimbursement of up to 80% of dental prostheses, within a limit of 3,000 MAD in a 12 months period, after agreement of the insurance company
Maternity
Maternity expenses are reimbursed according to the following:
- Simple delivery: up to 2,000MAD.
- Twin delivery: up to 3,000MAD
- Pre and post-natal: 80% at a maximum of 2,000MAD
- Accidental miscarriages: 80% at a maximum of 2,000MAD
- Cesarean delivery: bearing medical costs
The general ceiling of reimbursement - per person and per year- for the basic insurance is: 30.000MAD. |
The annual premium for each subscriber is:
- Adult: 820 MAD
- Dependent child: 640 MAD
2.3 Complementary Insurance Benefits
The complementary insurance provides medical cover up to 1.000.000MAD per person per year, for medical, surgical, pharmaceutical, hospitalization and transport expenses related to sickness or accident. It is divided as follows:
- From 30,001 to 400,000 MAD: reimbursement of expenses up to 80%
- From 400,001 to 750,000 MAD: reimbursement of expenses up to 100%
- Transport expenses: reimbursement up to 250,000MAD
The annual premium for the complementary insurance is:
- Adult: 490 MAD
- Child: 190 MAD

Enrollment to the complementary insurance is mandatory for all personnel who subscribe to the basic insurance.
2.4Incapacity and Disability Insurance
Partial or Total Temporary Disability:
When the subscriber is obliged to cease all activity as a result of accident or disease, the insurance company shall provide 50% of the salary starting from the 31st day of the work cessation over a 12 month-period.
Total Permanent Disability
In case of a disability percentage over 66%, the insurance company shall pay an allowance representing up to 40% of the annual salary until retirement at the age of 60 years.
Premium rate: 0.80% of the gross salary per month

2.6 Insurance Coverage
Health insurance coverage stops at the age of 70. Spouses aged between 60 & 70 benefit from medical insurance coverage only if the enrolled employee is also over 60.
2.7 Second Examination
Medical files less than 500MAD are not subject to second examination “contre visite”. Should the company need any additional medical information, it will invite you to a second examination. Patients are requested to respond as soon as possible to allow the company to quickly process the medical file and take a well-based decision.
2.8 Medical Files
Medical files should reach the insurance company within the three month deadline. As medical files are first processed by HRO before mailing to the company, files submitted less than ten days before the deadline will be rejected by HRO.
