EMPLOYEE BENEFITS GUIDE
1- Social Security (CNSS)
The National Social Security Fund, La Caisse Nationale de Sécurité Sociale (CNSS) provides security against the risks of income withdrawal in cases of sickness, maternity, disability, and retirement.
1.1 Eligibility
CNSS is mandatory for all full time personnel who are not eligible to other social security programs.
1.2 Declaration to CNSS
Declaration to CNSS is processed monthly by the University for all eligible employees. Only one registration number is provided to the employee during the whole professional life. The double registration would wrong the employee in his/her rights.
1.3 Family Benefits
It is a monthly allowance paid to the employee under the following conditions:
- the employee should be living in Morocco;
- has been declared for at least 108 days during the last six months
- earns a minimum net salary of 1600 MAD per month.
Family allowances are served for 6 children maximum. Eligible children must be younger than 12 years old, 18 if an apprentice, 21 if a student and no limit of age if disabled.
200 MAD a month is paid for each of the first three children; 36 MAD a month for each additional child up to sixth. If both husband and wife are eligible for child allowance, it is directly paid to the husband.
1.4 Social Security Benefits
Sickness allowance is granted to eligible employees who cannot report to work as a result of sickness duly documented by a sick certificate. Work accidents are not covered by CNSS. Sickness allowance is provided under the following conditions:
- Inability to report to work due to illness certified by a doctor;
- Declaration to CNSS for no less than 54 days during the last six months preceding the incapacity;
- A minimum of 6 days of declaration for subsequent sickness claims;
- Sick leave of more than 3 days.
Daily sickness allowance shall be paid by CNSS up to a limit of 52 weeks.
Eligible female employees are entitled to 14 weeks of maternity leave, seven of which should be necessarily taken after delivery.
To qualify for maternity benefit, the employee must have been declared to CNSS for at least 54 days during the last six months preceding delivery.

In accordance with the article 270 of the labor code, the employee is entitled to three paid days off following the birth of a child. The University requests reimbursement directly from CNSS.
The Funeral benefit is a one-time payment of 12.000MAD intended to assist with the funeral expenses of an employee or his/her dependents. To qualify for this benefit, the employee must have at least 54 days of contribution in the last six month preceding the death.
1.5 Social Long Term Benefits
Invalidity Benefit is paid to an eligible employee who has not reached the age of 60 years, and who is unable to take part in any further employment activity because of incapacity that is likely to become permanent.
Employees under the age of 60, who are declared invalid, and who have been declared to CNSS for a minimum of 1080 days, 108 of which must have been made during the last twelve months preceding incapacity are entitled to disability benefit
The disability pension is replaced by the retirement pension when the employee becomes eligible for retirement

Retirement benefit is payable to a declared employee who has reached the age of 60 years and has contributed to CNSS for a minimum of 3240 days. The procedure for claiming retirement pension is detailed on the HR procedures manual.
Payments:
Minimum: 50% of the average monthly salary* for a minimum 3240 days of contribution.
Maximum: 70% of the average monthly salary*.
* The average monthly salary is taken into account only up to a maximum of 6000 MAD.
It is a benefit paid to legal beneficiaries of a deceased eligible employee who was either receiving CNSS disability or retirement pension, or who had accumulated 1,080 days of contribution.
The following individuals are entitled to this benefit:
- Spouse;
- Dependent children under 12, until 18 if an apprentice, until the age of 21 if a student and without limit of age if disabled.
Survivor’s pension is discontinued if the widow remarries.
