Research in Progress (working title):
Dialogues with African Philosophy
Abstract:
The purpose of the proposed research is to critically evaluate African Philosophy and its broader implications for Philosophy. Two questions will structure the research. First, what is the nature of the knowledge that African philosophers have defended as specific to Africa? And secondly, how is this African knowledge itself known by the contemporary African philosopher? The answers to these questions will offer a basis for both understanding and engaging critically with African philosophy and also provide the foundation for a postcolonial critique of Modern European and Eurocentric philosophy.
