INCUBATOR OPERATIONAL MODEL
Incubation Approach
The incubator main purpose is to ease the difficulties of launching new technology based enterprises. And to accelerate the formation, growth and success rates of startup companies in Morocco in general, and in the Ifrane area in particular. It seeks to ease the transition of new graduates with entrepreneurial spirits into their professional life, as well as help faculty turn innovative ideas into commercial products through successful companies. Hence, the incubator will provide individualized business counsel through its own staff as well as through a pool of top class business and technology mentors. Consulting support is offered to tenant companies in a variety of management, financial, marketing and administrative areas by the incubator staff and mentors.
Our incubator approach is inspired from (Rubio, 2001, p. 05). In deed our incubation model will have three phases:
- Pre-incubation: the aim of this phase is to transform innovative ideas or projects into a potentially commercial business. This phase is conceived as a process of generation of potential clients for the next phase. The incubator will also provide a scholarship seed money to project holders during the pre –incubation period (up to 6 months)
- Incubation: in this phase entrepreneurs are offered the necessary infrastructure and strategic support for the development of their activities.
- Disincubation: the aim of this phase is to support the businesses so that they will be able to become established outside the incubator infrastructure.
Our model is suggested based on the following facts:
- the entrepreneurs’ lack of experience
- the technical obstacles to bring the projects to completion
- the difficultiesto access the market
- the non-experience of managerial tasks
The incubator should bring the knowledge and the know how to the tenant companies so that they can focus on their core business.
