Seminar about Small and Medium Enterprises' Environment
In Friday, May 9th, 2008, the Al Akhawayn University Incubator organized a seminar about “Small & Medium Entreprises’ Environnent”. The seminar was moderated by Mr. Rachid El Amrani, the chief executive of Capital Invest, and covered the following aspects:
- The legal environment of SMEs
- The taxation system
- The funding options that are available to entrepreneurs
- The banking transactions and the different means of payment
- The steps of a company creation
More than 40 entrepreneurs from Meknes-Tafilalt region attended the seminar among which were representatives from the regional partners, namely: FBPCE (Fondation Banque Populaire pour la Creation d’Entreprises), CRI (Centre Regional d’Investissement), ANAPEC (Agence Nationale de Promotion de l’Emploi et des Competences) and the Azrou center. Three entrepreneurs from the incubator have also benefited from this training.
Besides its instructive benefits, the day was also an occasion for the attendance to form a group of entrepreneurs in the form of a regional network to further liaise their efforts. A database containing basic information about each participant (contact details and the nature of the project) has been collated and diffused among all the participants for future collaboration.
Mr. Rachid El Amrani emphasized the importance of incubators in fostering entrepreneurship in developed countries, and the need for Moroccan entrepreneurs to follow the trend and to embrace this model for their business development. He consequently encouraged entrepreneurs to seize the chance provided by the Al Akhawayn University Incubator and to take the maximum advantage of it.
The Al Akhawayn University Incubator was founded in mid 2006 with the support of the World Bank under its branch InfoDev. The center is an entrepreneurial platform designed to help young and innovative entrepreneurs to succeed their ventures in the sectors of Information Technologies, Biotechnologies and Environment. This support is given by providing the necessary logistics and facilities, the technical assistance and the networking among others.
