LECTURER/ASSISTANT PROFESSOR POSITION IN ENGLISH COMPOSITION/RHETORIC

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences has one new opening in Composition and Rhetoric at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor to begin in Spring 2012.  The candidate will need to teach three to four sections of Freshman composition and advanced writing courses, including Technical Writing and/or Writing for Business, in the university common core.  The position requires, beyond the mastery of the subject matter of composition and rhetoric, that faculty demonstrate effective teaching, show evidence of continuing preparation and study, contribute to student growth, and provide service to the university and the community.

Applicants must have an MA in English, composition/rhetoric or related field, or equivalent diploma. Preferred professional experience includes: work with students for whom English is a second language; assessment; writing across the curriculum; and technology applications. Successful candidates will have demonstrated ability to teach and work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds.  Candidates holding a Ph.D. or equivalent degrees in a relevant discipline who meet the qualifications above are also welcome to apply.

THE UNIVERSITY: Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane is an independent, public, not-for-profit, coeducational university committed to educating future citizen-leaders of Morocco and the world through a globally oriented, English-language, liberal-arts curriculum based on the American system.  The university is composed of approximately 1,600 undergraduate and graduate students in a residential campus environment.
