The Center for Academic Development

The Center for Academic Development at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane has two new openings commencing Fall 2010.

The candidate will teach undergraduate courses in Study Skills, Information Literacy and Critical Thinking and Analysis.

• Applicants must have a Master’s Degree or Ph.D in applied linguistics, education or related fields.

• Teaching and professional experience is required, but new Ph.Ds with relevant experience are also encouraged to apply.  
• Experience in materials development and syllabus design is a plus.

All teaching is conducted in English.

The Center for Academic Development (CAD)
The purpose of the Center for Academic Development (CAD) is to help students improve the quality of their study and learning, with a view to enabling them to maximize their own potential and the resources of the University. In CAD courses students learn information literacy and study skills, approaches to problem solving, critical thinking, group interaction skills, and computer skills.

CAD offers other types of academic support to the entire student population. The Writing Center helps any willing undergraduate or graduate student with written assignments, both academic and personal. Tutoring Services supports students in learning specific courses across the entire university, and matches strong student tutors with students needing help.

CAD addresses academic development not only by helping students but by helping faculty develop and implement effective teaching. THE UNIVERSITY: Al Akhawayn University is a not-for-profit Moroccan state institution of higher education that is built on the American model and that uses English as a medium of instruction and the language administration. The university is composed of approximately 1,500 undergraduate and master’s level students in a residential campus environment. The main campus of the university is located in Ifrane, a resort town in the Middle Atlas Mountains approximately 60km from the Imperial cities of Fez and Meknes. The university also has a campus center in the commercial center of Casablanca with a focus on professional and executive programs.  There are approximately 125 academic faculty members; about 40% of whom are international.
