Student Activities

On Campus This Week

Ifrane is a quiet and temperate place and when students feel it is a little too quiet, the SAO is there to keep them busy. ”On Campus This Week” is a weekly schedule of campus activities and events.

On Campus This Week

July 2 - 8 pdf version

Some of the events that are included therein are:

Karaoke:
A fun event for all involved! This event is held once or twice per semester, allowing students to demonstrate their singing talent - or lack thereof…

Movies:
A selection of various films is shown every week, either on the large screen in the Auditorium in building 4 or broadcast to residence halls. Residents either watch them in student centers in a large group or on their individual TV’s. These broadcasts are referred to as Room Run Nights.

Music:
Musical events are a regular feature of AUI life, no matter what kind of music you might prefer. Music of all sorts is offered; from Mozart and Classical Moroccan music to Abdelhadi Bekhiat, Nass El Ghiwane, Abderahim Souiri, or gnawa, pop, rock or jazz...

Open Mike Nights:
Open Mike Night is an event where students are free to be with music and a microphone. Whether it be singing, poetry reading, performing skits, telling jokes or anything else the student can think of, the mike belongs to the performers.

Parties:
Professional DJs are hired for rockin’ campus parties. Often held in the open-air, the music usually starts at around 9 and the action really starts around 11 p.m. or midnight. The parties go on till the wee hours of the morning. It’s fun for all!

Quiz Show Nights:
Students compete in trivia games in front of a live audience in one of the auditoriums on Quiz Show Nights. Teams participate in several selection rounds before competing in the finals. It’s a great time for students to demonstrate their intellectual abilities, while having fun and listening to good music provided by Radio Station AUI.

Sports Competitions:
Sports events are some of the most popular activities on campus! AUI competes with teams from other university and masses of students, faculty and staff gather in the indoor gymnasium to cheer on the teams. It’s a great ambiance for all!

Special Events:
The SAO also organizes special events during the course of the semester to accommodate the desires of everyone. These include theme parties and events like Achoura, Halloween, Poetry Nights and more! We are open to new, fresh and innovative ideas, too!

Talent Shows:
Every semester AUI students demonstrate their personal or group skills and talents at the AUI Talent Show, which takes place in the main auditorium. This is definitely one of the top and most popular events of the semester! Make sure you don’t miss it!!

Fun Runs:
Each Spring semester, Hand in Hand Association organizes this great annual event. World-famous athletes like Hicham El Gerrouj, Nawal El Moutawakkil and Khalid Sekkah have taken part! The goal is to raise funds during this event through participant sponsorship forms. So, not only is everyone having fun, but the needy also receive a great benefit.

AUI Fairs:
Fairs are where students can either participate in numerous activities and games, or just lounge in the sun and watch. Wheelbarrow races, darts, mini-golf, turtle races, rabbit catching and soccer are just a few of the activities available during the event!

Apparel Parties:
Come to a dress party all decked out in whatever the theme is. It could be Halloween, pajama or formal night; be prepared for any of these. It’s great fun to see everyone in a new look!

Exhibitions:
The SAO offers several exhibitions throughout the year including paintings, Moroccan artisan crafts, photography and pottery. Students are always supportive of the artists who continue to promote enthusiasm for cultural events.
