Clubs

Clubs currently operational at AUI

ACM chapter: The club helps promote education in computer science and information technology, and gain insight into computing as a profession. In addition, the ACM club provides the opportunity for AUI students to develop both organizational and leadership skills. The club organizes the ACM Days, Unreal Tournament, and other competitions like the pan-African-Arab ACM competition.

Amnesty Group at Al Akhawayn: It promotes awareness on human rights issues among students and holds campaigns and petitions that are launched by Amnesty International.

Andalusian Music and Amdah: This club regroups a number of dedicated students keen on preserving their musical cultural heritage and organizing Ramadan religious nights. Taught by professors Mohammed Briouel, they offer a minimum of one andalusian music night a semester and one Amdah night a year.

Arabiyat Club: Its focus is on the Arabic culture. Members may organize a Poetry Night or debates on Arabic topics, as they may work in collaboration with the Housing Office for posting Arabic poems and proverbs in the students’ dorms.

Astronomy Club: It promotes the astronomy knowledge among AUI students through organizing “Soirée D’Observation”, movies projections, and field trips.

AUI Radio: The radio team broadcast their news along with music, definitely one of the most popular student organizations on campus. The club includes a very motivated group of dedicated students, not only running their activities but also helping all clubs and OSA for any entertaining event... They are always ready with their detachable hard drive and the rest of their gear to entertain and make events lively.

AUI TV: Its aim is to report day-to-day life inside AUI and to increase communication between AUI students and the administration. Among its programs: AUI weekly news; entertainment programs like the hidden camera and TV competitions; cultural programs; live hot debates and other miscellaneous programs. The Club also presents at the End of Semester Nights a 10 minutes video on all major semester events.

British Club: Like the other clubs, its objective is the promotion of the British culture.

Counter Strike Club: This club regroups a number of fans and addicts of video- games. But this club is mainly about the famous counter strike video game of terrorists and anti-terrorists. The best AUI team takes part in the national Counter Strike Tournament in Casablanca while intramural tournaments are held for all the members during the whole semester.

Choir Club (AUI Voices United): A number of devoted students (girls and boys) under the leadership of the talented student Laila Lebbar work hard in order to represent AUI in national and international events. The club performs semiannually in AUI’s Talent Shows and always wins a wide appreciation. The club had the opportunity to take part for the second time in the International Festival of Music in Marrakech among other participant from Mexico, France, Brazil and Switzerland…etc. The Voices United ambition went beyond that since the club was invited to perform in “Palais des Festivales” for the 6th edition of the Water Symposium in Cannes, France. Voices United join their voices to share with you various repertoire of Gospel, classical, modern, and oriental music.

Courant D’Art Club: It promotes cultural events from different horizons so as to broaden out AUI students’ artistic and cultural knowledge.

Dance Clubs: Salsa, Arabesque, Contemporary Dance
The clubs offer dance classes on a regular basis and perform in AUI Talents Show.

Diplomacy club: Its main objectives are to advance the academic knowledge and official training of the club members, and establish a network of contacts among members and other interested parties. These objectives are met through the organization of round table discussions on hot political issues, seminars, field trips, social events and other activities.

Equestrian Club: The Club offers a wide variety of activities. Apart from the weekend trips to Fez or Boufekrane Equestrian Centers for riding, the club has gained a good reputation in organizing big trips to other Moroccan cities. Always with nice surprises, they started by Tangier, Marrakech, then Essaouira and Agadir. Who knows what destination will be next.

Explorers club: A club dedicated to exploring Morocco: the nearby regions - like the Gouraud Cedar, La Valée des Roches, Oum Rabia Springs; the south - the sand dunes, Ouarzazate, Marrakech and the southern gorges and oases.

ESN-Ifrane: Erasmus Student Network is a European wide student network. Its goal is to support and develop student exchange and mobility. That is to help international students to get to know their new home and to integrate them into the local society. ESN is composed of sections working in Higher Education Institutions and consists of more than 160 sections active in 26 European countries. Now this organization has extended its network to include the southern countries and thus Morocco has been the first section outside of Europe and hosted the Southern European Platform in Marrakech in October 9th, 10th, and the 11th, 2004 and in which AUI section took part.

Finance Club: The “Guest Speakers” and Field Trips are the main activities of the club so as to educate AUI students about finance and its related fields.

Future Entrepreneurs: The club offers a variety of entrepreneurial programs and business information to the members interested in expanding or starting their own businesses.

AUI Entrepreneurial Days (24-25-26 April 2006)

Gender & Development Association: Through implementing a gender approach and thus changing the name of the association from Women & Development to Gender & Development, the focus of this club will be to integrate and develop the whole family and not a part of it. The club is concerned with family and social issues and development.

The club also gives German lessons and recently its program starts to be so rich that the club undeniably became a role model for other student organizations. Big Jazz and classical music concerts, disguise carnival, silent movies festival, and theme parties are organized. Other programs include the summer exchange school in Germany, and a distinguished participation in the International Water Symposium of Cannes.

Gnawa Club: the club is interested in the promotion of the Gnawa music. It offers Gnawa music lessons for the sake of building an AUI Gnawa group. The sessions are offered twice a week with Maallam Abdenbi in the auditorium of building 17.

Green House Club: The club promotes the practice of gardening and its techniques.

Hassani club: Its purpose is to the promotion of the Hassani culture. Their major event is the Hassani Day that includes exhibitions, lectures, Hassani music and other special cultural aspects.

Hand In Hand Association: Definitely one of the leading clubs at AUI, this humanitarian Club has been working on a number of projects, the most important of which has been the adoption of primary schools in the region of Ifrane. Other projects include the tutorial courses in Dar Talib of Ifrane, Operation Smile and Big Brother Big Sister with the Imouzer Foundation. The yearly most important project is the famous Fun Run event. Organized each spring semester, HIH Fun Run is a good means to raise funds.

Human Resources Club: To make AUI community aware of what is HRD and HRM; to attract more students to major in HRD; to make the administration aware of the problems that the HRD students may face; and to help AUI build tools related to HRD and HRM such as job analysis, training plans, etc…

Japanese Circle: Promotes the Japanese culture and language. The club organizes Japanese courses and the Japanese days in collaboration with the Japanese Embassy in Morocco.

The main purpose of the club is to help new students in their first step towards an enjoyable, comfortable, and smooth transition to university life. This knowledgeable and spirited group of students is dedicated to assisting each student find his/her place in AUI community.

Paintball Club: It organizes paintball tournament which is a combination of “hide and seek” and “tag” but much more sophisticated and challenging.

Public Speaking and Debating Society: The PSDS club’s main objectives are: to promote AUI students ability to communicate with fluency and excellence; and to organize, conduct and participate in national and international exhibitions and competitions in public speaking and debating. The club participates in national and international Public Speaking and Debating competitions, won the national competition in 2005 and was 2nd in the international one.

Rotaract club: Rotaract aims at fostering leadership and responsible citizenship, encourages high ethical standards in business and promotes international understanding and peace. It conducts Health Awarness Days, Blood Drive and Tetanus campaigns, cultural activities, social events, and professional and leadership development workshops.

Spanish Club: Introduces AUI students to the Spanish culture and organizes beginners and intermediate courses of Spanish. These courses are offered by Spanish exchange or Moroccan students.

SIFE: It stands for Student In Free Enterprise in Morocco. SIFE is a global, non-profit organization that is literally changing the world through highly dedicated student teams. SIFE offers these students the opportunity to develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills through learning, practicing and teaching the principles of free enterprise, thereby improving the standard of living for millions in the process. Guided by distinguished faculty advisors and supported by businesses around the globe, SIFE Teams teach important concepts through educational outreach projects, including market economics, entrepreneurship, personal and financial success, and business ethics to better themselves, their communities and their countries.

Sticky Greenzzz / Rap Club: A group of rap-lovers who offers rap concerts on a regular basis, and organizes and participates in music events inside campus, notably the Talent Show.

Theater and Drama club: The club helps promote the artistic side of members. It also helps build a creative personality through theatre games and plays. The club has been offering AUI community a number of theatre plays, skits and theatrical improvisations.

Its main objective is to promote the Berber culture and language in AUI. The Club successfully organizes Amazigh days at the university. These usually include lectures, book exhibits, entertainment, special meals, and sales of traditional items…

United Associations: United Associations’ objectives are to unify the clubs efforts for a better productivity and more efficient activity planning; to raise a spirit of instructive competitiveness; to improve communication in our campus; and to spread a feeling of motivation among AUI students. The club also works as a think-tank assisting SGA.
