Why do I need an Academic Advisor?
Advisors guide you in formulating your educational plans, and help you to translate your goals, interests, and career aspirations into an effective education. Your advisor will help you understand the academic requirements that give structure to your study.
Who is my academic advisor?
That depends on your school and major. If you're having difficulty locating an advisor or are not sure which advisor to see, contact your school assistant
Is it possible to get credit by taking an examination without enrolling in a course?
Yes, it is, for some courses. Students who are admitted to and enrolled at AUI can challenge undergraduate courses - with the approval of the department—to earn credit by examination. While you can sometimes receive a grade for a Credit by Examination exam, it will not count in your GPA. For more information, look at the catalog or contact the registrar office
Can I repeat a course?
If the grade received is a D or F, it is possible to repeat a course. The grade earned by retaking the course is the grade, other than W (Withdrawal), counted in the cumulative grade point average.
How to calculate my GPA?
The Grade Point Average (GPA) is used to determine academic standing. You can compute your semester and cumulative GPA by using the following method:
- Use these values: A=4, B=3, C=2, D=1, F=0
- For each course, multiply the number of credits by the values of the grade received. This equals the grade points for that class.
- Add all credits attempted
- Add all grade points earned
- Divide the total quality points by the total credits attempted
- The quotient is your GPA (grade point average)
