International Students Accommodation
Within the framework of partnership with different international universities, the housing department, each semester, receives students from different countries in the world. To enhance cultural exchange learning between our students, the housing department accommodates these international students with Moroccan ones who show interest in sharing not only their rooms, but also their habits and life styles. However, the assignment and the matching in such cases should go through a very decisive filter.
Before getting an international student as a roommate, the interested Moroccan student needs to meet the following obligations.
- Make a room reservation where he/she specifies his/her preference for an international student as a roommate.
- Respond to all questions related to his habits and life style.
- Have a good conduct during past semesters.
Once the student is eligible to have an international roommate, the housing department gives surety to the following:
- Get international students profiles from the office of international program for a good matching.
- Hold a meeting with eligible students.
- Explain the impact of cultural difference
- Encourage them to welcome the new international student
- Help them to build confidence in their roommate
- Urge them to initiate discussion.
- Explain to them that cultural exchange is part of education
- Encourage them to refer to the RAs or the housing department in case of misunderstanding
Before the check out of each semester, the housing department distributes a satisfaction questionnaire to all the international students. Its aim is to evaluate their experience in the residence halls in general and their experience with their roommates. Their responses are taken into consideration for the improvement of the services offered and whether their roommate is recommended for a potential new international student.
