FAQ

Here are some of the most commonly asked questions about financial aid and scholarships.

  • What is the difference between grants and scholarships?

Grants are sums of money awarded to a student to finance his education depending on financial need, whereas scholarships are generally given on the basis of merit. Neither of these awards has to be paid back.

  • Do I need to be admitted before I can apply for grant or scholarship?

No. You can apply within the set deadline to submit the admission application, yet you can not benefit from the award unless you are admitted and enrolled at the university.

  •  What happens if I don't submit my financial aid application on time?

If you miss the deadline, loan is available.

You can apply for it at every semester. You first have to complete the Bank Loan Application whereof the approval is subject to the bank.

  • Do I have to reapply for financial aid every semester?

No. However, the renewal of your financial aid package depends on your keeping a good academic standing.

  • Should I apply for aid if I have siblings in AUI?

Yes. If you have a sibling graduated or still enrolled at AUI, you can apply for the “2nd child discount” of 5000 DH per semester. Both Moroccan and foreign students can benefit from it as long as their sibling(s) are enrolled.

  • When will I get aid for which I am approved?

Aid is disbursed at the beginning of each enrolling semester. You have to pick up your statement from the financial Aid Office every semester.

  •  If I have a student loan, when do I have to start paying it back?

Repayment starts 12 months after the last release. (9 releases for undergraduates and 5 for graduates) If you have any questions regarding repayment, be sure to ask the lender.

  • Who is eligible for the student employment?

Student employment is available for enrolled students only who have earned a minimum of 30 credits for undergraduates and 12 credits for graduates and a GPA above 3.00 / 4.

  • How do I get a student employment?

You must complete a Student-Employment Application at the end of the semester to be considered for the subsequent semester.

  • How will I be paid?
No payment is made for any work or job done by students as part of financial aid. The amount is instead credited to the student’s account with the university.
