GENERAL BUSINESS (GBU)
GBU 4301 Advanced Quantitative Methods in Business (3)
This course is designed to provide foundations of quantitative methods for managerial decision-making. It examines the use of modern quantitative methods to support the executive decision-making process. It includes hypothesis testing, statistical inferences, forecasting and regression analysis.
This is a Foundation Course in the Part Time Executive MBA
GBU 4401 Advanced Quantitative
Methods in Business 4(3-2)

This foundation course is required for students who have not
had the requisite background in statistics and quantitative methods
necessary for managerial decision making. It examines the use
of modern quantitative methods to support the executive decision-making
process. It includes hypothesis testing, statistical inferences,
forecasting and simulations, linear programming and problem optimization.
A once-a-week laboratory session is held in order to enhance students'
ability to use specific statistical packages and deal with special
business cases.

GBU 4399 Research
Methodology 3(3-0)
Pre-requisite: GBU

The business research methodology course
will offer a broad view of methodology issues
related to the planning and implementation
of a research process. The main focus will
be to present different methodological approaches
in theoretical as well as empirical social
research. It will cover topics related to
issues as scientific theory, the problem
formulation, the nature of abstraction, modes
of explanation and understanding, the problem
of conceptualization, and the process in
which concepts and empirical knowledge interact
in formulating a research problem, research
questions and research strategies. Another
important focus of the course will be to
present the foundations of a qualitative
research approach versus a quantitative research
approach in relation to different methods
and techniques. Especially primary and secondary
data collection will be emphasized as well
as procedures for analysis and presentation
of research findings in relation to conclusions
and recommendations.

GBU 5305 Legal
Environment and Corporate Governance 3(3-0)
This course explores trade, business, economic and political issues which influence the legal environment in both industrialized and developing countries. This course covers a variety of topics including multinational corporations, unfair competition, foreign investment laws and includes an overview of cross-border international agreements and organizations including the European Union, World Trade Organization, and the U.S./Morocco Free Trade Agreement. Special attention will be given to the topic of corporate governance, as well as corporate culture, corruption, management and board compensation and concepts of corporate social responsibility.
GBU 5306 Business
Decision Making and Management Science 3(3-0)
Pre-requisite: GBU

This course is designed to provide foundations
of quantitative methods for managerial decision-making.
It examines the use of modern quantitative
methods to support the executive decision-making
process. Particular models examined include
those which assist in describing and analyzing
problems and those devoted to suggesting
possible managerial actions. At a minimum,
the following subjects will be discussed:
how to formulate business problems, how to
solve them using quantitative analysis, and
how to simulate and apply the recommended
solution.

This is a Concentration in Management Science for the MSSEMS
GBU 5307 Entrepreneurial
Management 3(3-0)
Pre-requisite: 20 MBA SCH or special permission
This course is designed for students who
wish to start their own business, acquire
a business, or join the management of a family
or privately owned and operated firm. This
is a project course in which the student
is required to create a business plan for
a proposed entrepreneurial endeavor. At a
minimum, the following subjects will be discussed:
methods for identifying new opportunities,
creativity and invention, acquiring seed
capital, obtaining venture capital for growth
or for purchase of an existing business.
This is a Core Course for the MBA program
GBU 5308 Net-Economics
and e-Business 3(3-0)
Pre-requisite: MBA Core
This course deals with concepts and methods
related to the new economy and to electronic
businesses. It introduces the data-networks
and their uses in the daily transactions
of businesses. The characteristics of Economies
and e-Businesses are also considered before
tackling the implied economic, managerial
and financial issues. Applications and case
studies are also used to emphasize the practical
side of this course.
GBU 5310 Special
Topics in Business 3(3-0)
Pre-requisite: Special permission
This course covers various topics of interest
selected in an identified area of business.
This course may be repeated for credit and
can be used to support business projects.
GBU 5320 Thesis
and Internship 3(3-0)
Final semester and requires prior topic approval
of the Graduate Committee.
This course requires students to identify,
analyze and recommend solutions to current
business issues identified during the course
of their required internship; the internship
must be completed during the summer immediately
prior the last semester of the program. Students
will work with both a faculty and company
advisor in preparing this thesis. The thesis
will be submitted and defended by the student
during their last semester in the MSCF program.
