Academic Reading(ARD)
ARD 1001 Academic Reading 0 (4-1)
Placement based on TOEFL subscores and /
or placement tests.
The objective of Academic Reading 1001 is to increase the word
stock of students through intensive reading, guessing the meaning
of words from context, and word analysis. In parallel, students
will be introduced to the basic reading skills such as distinguishing
main ideas from details, recognizing text structure and organization,
developing dictionary skills, and improving reading speed.

ARD 1002 Academic Reading 0 (4-1)
Placement based on TOEFL subscores and /
or placement tests.
Academic Reading 1002 has two principal
goals. The first aims towards a more interactive
relation between the reader and the text.
Focus will not be only on developing students’ vocabulary,
but will foster development of critical reading
skills .The second goal is to enable students
to develop some analytical techniques to
understand a variety of academic text genres.
Particular emphasis will be on recognizing
text structure, rhetorical patterns, and
other linguistic features typical of academic
English texts.
