About
Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane
Al Akhawayn University
in Ifrane (AUI) is by design and mission an international
university. The institution is committed to increasing international
understanding through global outreach programs that encourage
international exchanges and study abroad.
The highly qualified
faculty is over 50% international representing over a dozen
nationalities. This standard realized from the beginning of
AUI has been constantly maintained. The university curriculum
is based on an American model but as a whole the institution
is decidedly Moroccan. This is in step with the university
motto of excellence and identity.

The degree-seeking
foreign student population is growing and is expected to reach
10% over the next few years. The long term goal is for the
international population to reach 25% of the total student
body. The number of foreign students coming to AUI for short-term
study is also growing - largely through bilateral exchange
programs and study abroad programs. AUI now has over 40 partner
institutions of higher education in the Americas, Europe and
Asia. Of these agreements for educational cooperation, 25
are involved with the active exchange of students for one
or two semesters.
AUI students
are encouraged to participate in these exchange programs which
enhance their understanding of the world and their roles in
both the global and local community. AUI’s partnerships
also foster joint research, special academic programs, and
conferences to advance scholarship.
