Dr. Aziz El Hassani, Lecturer at the AUI Language Center, co-authors a Book Chapter in The Routledge Handbook of Media Education Futures Post-Pandemic
Dr. Aziz El Hassani, a lecturer at the Language Center at Al Akhawayn University, recently co-authored a chapter in the newly released book “The Routledge Handbook of Media Education Futures Post-Pandemic” (ed. YontyFriesem et al., 2022). The chapter, titled, “Librarians and information literacy instruction in Morocco, Italy, and France during the pandemic Reflecting on Challenges and Future Opportunities” was written by three instructors from different American-style liberal arts institutions outside the United States (Morocco, Italy, and France) who shared how the pandemic impacted their work.
The authors reflected on the pandemic's educational challenges and how each institution required a different response. Despite all of this, the pandemic offered them possibilities for new initiatives and collaborations between librarians and faculty. They detailed how these collaborative efforts were developed in order to enrich the student learning experience in the classroom. In conclusion, these three instructors used this chapter to describe how librarians’ roles may be impacted in the long term, the necessity of establishing and formalizing new roles for librarians, and whether these positions should remain post-pandemic.
