Gathering of International Institutions Held to Improve Regional Growth

Dr. Moncef Lahlou, AUI's Vice President of Student Affairs (VPSA), recently represented the University at a gathering of international institutions. On the 30th and 31st of October, the Universities of North West Africa and Macaronesia Network (UNWAM) held its 2nd meeting at Ibn Zohr University in Agadir, Morocco, where representatives from institutions from all over the region convened to discuss how to improve in areas such as training for entrepreneurship, joint degrees, and the quality and the transfer of knowledge. UNWAM was established in December 2017 through the initiative of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria with the aim of intensifying the internationalization of North-West Africa through a global network of partners, and for the institutions and organizations of the world to perceive the region as an active and truly internationalized academic environment. This was the 2nd meeting of UNWAM, which is comprised of universities from all over the region including Mali, Senegal, Cape Verde, the Canary Islands, Azores, Madeira, Equatorial Guinea, Benin, Mauritania, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and Morocco. The theme of this year's meeting was "University-Business Relations and Knowledge Transfer."
