Karim Moustaghfir

Karim Moustaghfir, assistant professor of human resource development, has just begun a one-year Visiting Research Fellowship at the Cranfield School of Management at Cranfield University (UK), ranked by the Financial Times as 7th in the world, 4th in Europe, and 1st in the UK for executive education. Professor Moustaghfir's research project focuses on knowledge management and firm performance.

Lahcen Laayouni

Lahcen Laayouni, assistant professor of mathematics at Al Akhawayn, has won a Fulbright Visiting Scholar grant. As of June 1, he is at Temple University in Philadelphia working on a 3-month research project, and will present a paper at the upcoming Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics conference in Pittsburgh.

Ahmed Driouchi

Ahmed Driouchi, Dean of the Institute for Economic Analysis and Prospective Studies, has published an opinion on the medical tribune of l'Economiste(May 27, 2010), entitled "Why Reinforcing Training Capacity is Necessary."

Ilyass Garara

Al Akhawayn computer science major and Astronomy Club President Ilyass Garara '12 has won an award allowing him to attend the University of Granada's prestigious Azarquiel School of Astronomy summer intensive program from July 4-11. Ilyass is one of only 20 students from Arab and Middle Eastern countries to be selected for this unique all-expenses-paid opportunity.

Leila Jabrane

Leila Jabrane, Class of 2010 (International Studies and Diplomacy), has been awarded a full scholarship to pursue an MA in Development Studies at Oxford University. She is the second Al Akhawayn student to win such a scholarship to Oxford (the first was Shams Edoha Tazi Saoud '09, also International Studies and Diplomacy).
