Karim Moustaghfir, Associate Professor of Human Resource Development at Al Akhawayn University, presented a paper entitled "Entrepreneurial Learning in Higher Education" in the 2012 Finnish Entrepreneurship and Innovation Network (FINPIN) Conference on Entrepreneurial Universities, held in Münster, Germany on April 25-27, 2012. The paper is co-authored with Nada Trunk Sirca, Professor at the International School for Business and Social Studies in Slovenia, an Al Akhawayn partner institution. Al Akhawayn School of Humanities and Social Sciences hosted on April 18, 2012 a roundtable discussion under the theme of “The EU Debt Crisis and its Impact on Morocco” with the participation of Jawad Kerdoudi, from the Moroccan Institute of International Relations; Jack Kalpakian, Associate Professor of International Studies; and Angelos Sepos, Assistant Professor of European Studies. The discussion revolved around the origins, the evolution, and the perspectives of the debt crisis worldwide, as well as its impact on the Moroccan economy.

Al Akhawayn Engineering student Amine Karmouche (‘13) published a paper entitled “Distributer RFID Shopping System” in Communications in Computer and Information Science of the Springer Lecture Notes in Computer Science Series. Karmouche presented his paper to a large panel and audience of experts in the field of Computer and Information Science during the 4th International Conference on Networked Digital Technologies held at the Canadian University of Dubai, on April 24-26, 2012. “The organizing chairs and attendees were impressed by the high quality of undergraduate research conducted at Al Akhawayn University," said Amine Karmouche. "They commended the efforts made towards helping students start research at an early stage of their academic journey.”

Al Akhawayn Institute of Economic Analysis and Prospective Studies (IEAPS) issued a new report entitled “What Can Be Learnt from the New Economics of Emigration of Medical Doctors to the European Union: The Cases of East and Central European, Middle Eastern and North African Economies?” The publication was issued on April 27, 2012 in collaboration with FEMISE, under the leadership, coordination and authorship of IEAPS Dean Ahmed Driouchi, and in collaboration with Al Akhawayn's School of Business Administration and IEAPS Staff. Al Akhawayn Water Management Research team has published a chapter entitled “Violence, the Bitit Canal and the Nile Basin: An Asymmetric Comparison” in the book Integrated Water Resources Management in the Mediterranean Region: Dialogue towards new strategy: (Choukr-Allah, Redouane; Ragab, Ragab; Rodriguez-Clemente, Rafael, eds. (2012, 2012, IX, p391)). Authors of the chapter are Al Akhawayn professors Jack Kalpakian, Ahmed Legrouri, Fouad Berrada, Abdelkrim Ouardaoui, and Driss Kettani, and the research team assistants Fatima Ejekki and Khalid Doudou.
