Ahmed Legrouri-Board of Governors of the Arab Water Council

Ahmed Legrouri, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Dean of the School of Science & Engineering, participated, in his capacity as member of the Board of Governors of the Arab Water Council, in the 7th Meeting of the Board of Governors of the Arab Water Council held in Cairo, Egypt, on  November 19, 2011.

Jade Tahtah-Amazing Minds

Jade Tahtah, Lecturer at Al Akhawayn Language Center, represented Al Akhawayn University in the Pearson Longman's Amazing Minds North Africa Conference under the theme "Let Learning Flourish", held on November 18-19, 2011 in Marrakesh. Amazing Minds is the Pearson Longman development program that supports ELT teachers in their search for professional and personal growth. Through a series of carefully designed seminars on current issues at the core of the ELT profession, Amazing Minds gives teachers the skills and training required to enhance their personal and professional lives.

Khalid Sendide-research

Khalid Sendide, Associate Professor of Chemistry at Al Akhawayn University School of Science and Engineering, published a research paper entitled “Contribution to the Evaluation of the Integration of ICTs in Learning and Teaching practices” in the online journal of the Public Education & Information Technology Association(Association Enseignement Public et Informatique). Dr. Sendide co-authored the paper with PhD students he supervised from Sidi Mohamed Ben Abdellah University in Fez.

Al Akhawayn Voices United Choir

Famous producer Quincy Jones released on November 11, 2011 his new song Bokra, featuring Al Akhawayn Voices United Choir in the vocals. "Bokra" is a remake in Arabic of Jones' anthem "Tomorrow". The song is launched by Quincy Jones and Emirati social entrepreneur Badr Jafar to raise funds for education and cultural projects for children in North Africa and the Middle East. It features several stars from the Arab world. "Bokra" is co-produced by the famous Moroccan music producer Nadir Khayat (RedOne). For more information about the project, clickhere.

Bouziane Zaid-Online Book

Bouziane Zaid, Assistant Professor of Communication at Al Akhawayn School of Humanities and Social Sciences, presented his online book Mapping Digital Media: Morocco at the Arab-US Association of Communication Educators conference in Beirut, Lebanon, October 28 – November 1, 2011. He also presented two papers entitled “A Typology of Moroccan Media System” and “Media Policy in Morocco” at the International Association of Mass Communication Research conference which took place in Istanbul July 13-17; as well as a paper entitled “Reception Analysis of Moroccan Public Service Television Audiences” at the Gulf Research Center at the University of Cambridge on July 5-7, 2011.
