SHSS Advising Resources

This page is designed to provide SHSS Students and Faculty with basic information and resources for advising.  You will find below information on Sample Degree plans for majors in Communication, HRD and International Studies.  In addition, you will find a current listing of advisors for all students as well as a copy of the suggested course rotation for the courses SHSS offers.

Overview of Advising

Al Akhawayn University, in keeping with its philosophy, provides a flexible and visible system of advising to help you work towards your academic degree.  You will be assigned and required to see an academic advisor, but you can also choose from a variety of advising resources.  The advising philosophy at AUI is one of facilitating and teaching students how to make informed choices about their education.  Academic advising and planning is not separate from the reflective processes students engage in when evaluating their own performance in an academic program.  Ideally; this process gives students the tools to assess not only the content of their academic work but also their intentions and academic goals.  Students who seek out academic advising will most likely be presented with a series of questions about their goals, interests, skills and weaknesses and then be offered a range of academic options to help them make informed choices about their academic futures.
