2012 summer day camp Fees

 Deadline to pay the program fee: June 15, 2012

1- The first category: externals to AUI:

The program is open to externals for three reasons: promotion of the university, contribution in funding the event and allowing children of AUI employees to socialize and get to know new friends.

a-        2000 Dhs for 1 child.

b-        3500 Dhs for 2 children (1750 Dhs per child).

c-        4500 Dhs for 3 children (1500 Dhs per child).

2- The second category: This category includes, children of AUI faculty members non-members of AOS (Association Al Akhawayn des oeuvres Sociales), children of AUI students and children enrolled at ASI.

a-        800 Dhs for 1 child.

b-        1400 Dhs for 2 children (700 Dhs per child).

c-        1800 Dhs for 3 children (600 Dhs per child).

3- The third category: Members of AOS:

a-        300 Dhs for 1 child.

b-        550 Dhs for 2 children (275 Dhs per child).

c-        750 Dhs for 3 children (250 Dhs per child).

Registration of any additional child will cost 1500 Dhs for the first category, 600 Dhs for the second category and 250 Dhs for the last category.

COSTS AND FEES

Moroccan Camp Counselors

The 2012 Ifrane Summer Day Camp is open to camp counselors, ages 16-17. 

If selected for the program, camp counselors will receive:

Full room, board, and transportation at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane for the period of the camp, plus in-country transportation for the planned trips as part of the program. 

Counselors are expected to cover their own transportation from their home city to Ifrane.

Child Campers

The 2012 Ifrane Summer Day Camp is open to young campers, ages 4-15. Camp activities are scheduled over July 2-13 from 11 am to 5.30 pm (excluding weekends) in Al Akhawayn 

University. However, the university does not offer housing accommodation for external campers.

If you are interested in applying for Summer Day Camp, complete the attached registration  form and hand it to: Either the AOS treasurer,  Mrs. Fatima Hadre, in building 15 or the Vice treasurer, Ms Imane Barki -extension 2093 in building 12.

CAMP ACTIVITIES

On-Campus Activities

•Team-building games and outdoor activities (e.g., forest walks and explorations)

•Movies (classics, plus entertaining and educational films selected to reinforce English and key themes)

•Arts (painting, drawing, theater, dance, music)

•Athletics (basketball, swimming, tennis, and more)

•Competitive activities (between and within age groups, such as scavenger hunts, "color wars," and more)

•A family day with the campers and their parents

Off-Campus Activities:

•Camping day in the Al Akhawayn campus forest where the
campers will learn how to cook in nature, build a tent, build a campfire Treasure Hunt

•Excursions and community service (e.g., visits to local hospitals and orphanages, plus a special module on "Know Your City and Your Civics," with visits to Ifrane's government offices and town tour by P'tit Train)

•Clean-up campaign as part of the community service and environmental protection theme.

•Fun games in Al Akhawayn School of Ifrane (ASI)

•The first Sunday, camp counselors will visit the “Auberge Berber” to experience Moroccan food and Moroccan folklore, along with other activities in the Auberge.

•Weekend trip to Marrakech (for camp counselors)

Last day of camp: Friday, July 13

•Exhibits of campers’ produced art (paintings, pottery, etc.)

•Dance and music show by the campers

•Interested parents may attend Closing Dinner for camp counselors, parents and all camp organizers.

BE A CAMP COUNSELOR

Camp counselors are Moroccan and North American high-school students who will be coordinators of camp activities. In 2012, ten counselors will be selected on the basis of a competitive application process. Applications are due May 30, 2012.  

Camp counselors will be expected to help generate and monitor camp activities intended to reinforce English-language ability among the campers, create international connections between Moroccan and American youth, introduce the young campers to community service, promote civic engagement, and have fun!

Camp counselors will:

• Learn Arabic and experience Moroccan culture (earn 2 college credits for International students)

• Experience Morocco and share experiences with new friends

• Gain international leadership experience in a unique environment

• Explore the commonalities between people from different backgrounds

In addition, in 2012 the 10 US camp counselors will be required to take a daily course (worth 2 college credit hours) in Conversational Arabic and Moroccan Culture and will participate in advanced activities especially designed to reinforce their leadership skills and international perspective. The course will be taught each morning of during the two-week camp period by an Al Akhawayn University faculty member, and the international leadership activities will take place in the evenings and on weekends.

EXPERIENCE THE 2012 IFRANE SUMMER DAY CAMP!

The 2012 Ifrane Summer Day Camp is a stunning two-week international summer day camp at Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane, Morocco. The camp offers a great opportunity for young campers, ages 4-15, to learn together and to engage in intercultural dialogue and exchange experiences in a creative American-style summer day camp within a rich Moroccan environment. Campers will acquire English language skills, practice sports, enjoy a variety of artistic and cultural activities, become exposed to the American culture, and make new friends from Morocco and overseas.

The 2012 Ifrane Summer Day Camp will be held in Ifrane, on the campus of Al Akhawayn University, from July 2 to July 13, 2012, running 5 days a week from 11 am to 5.30 pm every day.  All campers and camp counselors will be offered lunch, snacks, all supplies needed for the scheduled activities, and a camp T-shirt (all included in the registration fee).
