Services & Policies

Borrowing Privileges:

2- Checkout limit is the total number of items that a patron may have checked out. The limit for Books is the overall total number permitted. There are lesser limits for the other item types, but are included in total.

3- The final due date for all items checked out to or renewed by students will be the last day of final exams each semester or term. This limit is waived for students working on thesis or capstone projects, with a letter of authorization from the student’s teacher or faculty advisor.

Renewal:

Patrons may renew Books and Periodicals 2 times, unless a Hold has been placed on the item by another patron. The renewal period is the same as the checkout period. AUI faculty may renew AVs 1 time for instructional or teaching purposes, not for personal use.

An item may be renewed only 2 days before the date due. After the second renewal, the item must be returned to the library. It may be borrowed again after 1 week.

Patrons may also renew items by phoning extension 2170, by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. , or by visiting the Circulation Desk.

Renewal will be blocked, if borrowing privileges have been suspended for any overdue items or unpaid fines.

Holds

Patrons may place Holds by visiting the Circulation Desk. Holds may not be placed by phone or email.

Recalls

After an item has been checked out for 10 days, it may be recalled if requested by another patron. A Recall notice will be emailed to the borrower informing him/her that the item must be returned to Circulation within three (3) days. The date due will be changed to three (3) days from the Recall notice. Recalled items not returned by the new due date will accrue overdue fines.
