CEO of Morocco's E-Commerce Leader Meets Al Akhawayn Students


Ifrane, April 5, 2012 – Kamal Reggad, founder and CEO of Hmizate, a leader e-commerce company in Morocco, shared with Al Akhawayn community his experience in e-commerce on April 3, 2012. 

Co-organized by Al Akhawayn School of Business Administration and the student-run Marketing club, the talk gathered more than 70 students. 

“There is never one good time when one can start their own company,” said Reggad. “Just take the risk and your customers will trust you.” 

Drawing from his personal experience, Reggad encouraged Al Akhawayn students to start their own online businesses. One year after its launch, Hmizate was awarded the Prize of the Best E-Commerce Site in Morocco. 

“The prize is the culmination of an assiduous work. We have always strived to provide the best service to our customers," added Reggad. 

Reggad studied and worked in the United States in the field of engineering and new technologies before he decided to return to Morocco in order to start his innovative project. In his talk to Al Akhawayn students, Kamal discussed the challenges he met during the creation of his project.   


Hmizate was launched in January 2011. Through the concept of group purchasing, Hmizate offers great deals in some of the largest cities in Morocco, with discounts up to 80% (Restaurants, Lounge, Spa/ Massage, Golf, Cinema, week-end getaways, etc.). Hmizate also provides an integrated platform to employers where they can acquire good deals at competitive prices for their employees, thus increasing employee satisfaction and retention. 

“We train our students to become global leaders,” said Nicolas Hamelin, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Management and Advisor of the Marketing Club at Al Akhawayn University. “Many succeed in their jobs within multinational institutions; but we keep on encouraging them to be entrepreneurs, and help create wealth and employment their countries and fellow citizens.”
