The Scholar Ship (www.thescholarship.com) is a floating university and the first voyage is Fall semester 2007.

Al Akhawayn University and ESADE sign a Memorandum of Understanding
Al Akhawayn University and ESADE, one of the most prestigious universities in the world that has recently been ranked, by the Wall Street Journal, School of Business No 1 in the world, signed a Memorandum of Understanding.
The two institutions, which give special importance to the Euro-Mediterranean region agreed to collaborate in the areas of trade and management training, as an approach for the potential installation of EUROMED School project. More details. 16 Nov 2006
Success Stories for AUI Alumni
Amal BENZINA, was ranked first in a very tough competition in Germany. Details can be found at the Technische Universität München website.
Aomar Boum graduated from our MA in Applied Humanities (1998). He went on to complete a PhD in Anthropology (University Arizona-Tuscon 2005) and is currently teaching at Portland State University. He has just co-authored (with Thomas Park) a Historical Dictionary of Morocco, Scarecrow Press, January 2006. Dr. Boum's publication constitutes a mark of distinction for our University. 14 Nov 2006
A new important Project and funding granted to the ICT4D lab
In recognition of the success of the eGovernment Project, the International Development Research Center has granted the ICT4D lab headed by Dr Driss Kettani an amount of 472.800$ (3.674.680 DH) to scale up our Research to the national level and generalize the eGovernment Platform and associated Roadmap to the whole Wilaya of Fez and other Moroccan cities including Larache, Hajeb, and Ifrane. 14 Nov 2006
Wissam Khaouid, as the freshman with the highest score in the GAT, has had his name communicated to the "Fondation Academia" to be the recipient of an excellence prize granted by this foundation to the student with the highest score in the admission tests of selected schools ("grandes écoles").

His Majesty appoints President Benmokhtar at the head of the Observatory of the National Initiative for Human Development
Mr Rachid Benmokhtar Benabdellah, President of Al Akhwawayn University, was received by His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Royal Palace in Casablanca on Friday 21 july, 2006. His Majesty appointed him as President of the Observatory of the National Intiative for Human development, an independent body in charge of monitoring the progress of the Initiative.
Mr Benmokhtar will head the Observatory in addition to his current duties as University President.
The ICT4D laboratory team has won the award "e-Mtiaz'. This award is related to the best e-Government Project in Morocco. The price will be given during a ceremony headed by the Prime Minister of Morocco and all Government members, on Wednesday June 21 in Rabat, in recognition of the strong contribution of our Research lab in the making of ICT a tool of human, social and economical development of our country. 21 June 2006

Al Akhawayn University Incubator has been granted 150,000 US$ from Worldbank InfoDev. Scholarships are available for project holders. The main objective of Al Akhawayn University Incubator is to create a supportive environment for regional and national socio-economic development. Taking advantage of Al Akhawayn University human and physical resources in addition to its international and national network, the incubator aims at concretizing a key strategic goal for the whole country that is encouraging the creation of startup companies for graduates. 28 April 2006
