AUI faculty from the Center for Arabic Studies and Literacy meet with ICESCO representatives to discuss possible collaborations

Dr. Abdelkrim Marzouk, Dean of Partnerships with Sectors and Continuing Education, and Dr. Abdellah Chakiri, coordinator of the Center for Arabic Studies and Literacy, an academic center of Al Akhawyan University in Ifrane, met with Dr. Majdi Haji Ibrahim and Dr. Youssef Ismaili from the Islamic World Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization's (ICESCO) Center for Arabic Language for Non-Arabic Speakers last Thursday, 24 March 2022, in order to discuss how they may collaborate on a project in the future to promote the Arabic language.

They had a fruitful discussion, as the representatives from each center agreed on two projects they could collaborate on. The first activity was a creative writing competition, where contestants could write children's short stories, an activity that they agreed would encourage students to engage with the Arabic language in a more creative setting. The second idea for the collaboration was to hold a round table discussion on the topic of the specific difficulties and challenges faced in the teaching and learning of the Arabic language. This event would take place as part of the international conference titled, "Educational Development: Opportunities for Creativity," which will be held in July 2022 at AUI.

The meeting then concluded with each side agreeing to a list of tasks they will work on in order to see these ideas come to fruition.
