AUI’s Institutional and Programmatic Accreditations Pave its Way to Providing Support for Scholarships

AUI welcomes its second cohort of the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation for Education (AGFE) STEM Scholarship Program, one of the largest privately funded philanthropic initiatives in education.

Recipients of this scholarship come from 19 Moroccan high schools in 11 cities including Kenitra, Oujda, Tangier, Fez and Kalaa Sraghna. They have distinguished themselves through their high potential to become great leaders and contribute to the prosperity of the Arab world. To facilitate their transition to the American University Education system, AUI has implemented a five-week immersion program that includes intensive English and math courses.

The program also includes weekly activities to get familiar with AUI's infrastructure, educational resources and nearby facilities. It also includes group actions to promote community development. AGFE program aims to support young Arabs from disadvantaged families to obtain degrees in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) from a selection of the best universities in the world. AUI is the only institution of higher education in Morocco and Maghreb to be selected for the prestigious AGFE STEM program.

In addition, AUI hosted 10 Afghan students as part of the Afghanistan Cooperative Agreement awarded by the US Embassy in Kabul. In fact, in 2017, AUI obtained $ 1 million for the undergraduate education of these students. The AUI-AGEF partnership and the AUI-Afghanistan Cooperative Agreement attest to the great added value of institutional accreditations and programs, particularly NECHE and ABET. They also recognize AUI's commitment to quality assurance and excellence, two values that make up the DNA of the institution.
