3rd ed. of the FAMI Celebrate the International Public Service Day at AUI
The African Academy of Territorial Communities (ALGA), United Cities and Local Governments of Africa (UCLG Africa), the Regional Council of Fez-Meknes and Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane organized the 3rd edition of the African Forum of Territorial Managers and Training Institutes targeting Territorial Communities (FAMI) on campus, June 10 – 14, 2019.
The third edition of the Forum is part of the celebration of the International Civil Service Day (decided by the UN General Assembly on June 23 of each year), and benefits from the support of the Moroccan Ministry of Interior, the Ministry delegated to the Head of Government in charge of the Reform of the Administration and the Public Service, the Association of Regions of Morocco (ARM), the Moroccan Association of Presidents of Municipal Councils (AMPCC), the Council of the Region of Fes-Meknes and Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane.
The theme chosen for the year 2019 is: "Financing the learning, training and capacity building of local elected officials and staff of Territorial Communities in Africa".
The official opening of the Forum was attended by Mr. Mohand Laenser, President of the Association of Regions of Morocco (ARM) and President of the Regional Council of Fez-Meknes; representatives of the Moroccan governments; representatives of Moroccan Territorial Collectivities; Dr. Driss Ouaouicha, President of AUI, and Jean Pierre Elong Mbassi, Secretary General of UCLG Africa. The Forum was an opportunity to recall the global and African commitments on investment in African human capital, particularly at the local level, exchanging with the various actors and stakeholders on the crucial and urgent nature of finding a sustainable solution to the problem of financing learning, training and capacity building targeting the local level in Africa, to present the successful models that exist around the world, and to propose innovative mechanisms and sustainable for the anchoring of Decentralization in Africa.
