National High-School MOI (Moroccan Olympiads of Informatics) Symposium
AUI hosted the First edition of the National High-School MOI (Moroccan Olympiads of Informatics) Symposium, January 25-26, 2019. 13 high-potential high-school students, from different regions (e.g., Fes, Oujda, Tiznit, Settat, Khouribga, etc) were selected to participate in the event. The selection was based on students' performance in the MOI Computer Programming competitions.
During the symposium, students were exposed mainly to Al Akhawayn programs and to the ACM Programmers Championship career offered at AUI (AUI has been the national champion in Computer Programming for five times in a row, 2014-2018).
As a side activity, the MOI students were presented the USAID-sponsored project run at Al Akhawayn (Energy-Efficiency - Towards Smart Micro-Grids) to have a closer insight about typical IT research projects at AUI. On Saturday evening, the students were challenged with a Programming Contest. This was monitored by our AUI ACM champion Khalil Ait Brahim, and Mr. Naji.
The Symposium organizing committee (represented by Dr. Abid) expressed its delightedness with the event, and its willingness to organize it a yearly basis, and making it part of the AUI Outreach Program" whereby best national high-school students would be invited and exposed to AUI curricula.
The event was organized in cooperation with ACM MCPC (Moroccan Collegiate Programming Contest) Association, AMAN (Association Marocaine de confiAnce Numerique) and USAID (US Agency for International Development)
