AUI Students Field Trip to Koutoubia and the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Sustainable Development
On Wednesday, October 17, 2018, a group of 11 SSE students led by Dr. Samir El Hajjaji (SSE) and Dr. Zaynab El Bernoussi (SHSS) went on a field trip to Mohammedia and Rabat to visit Koutoubia Holding and the Ministry of Energy, Mines, and Sustainable Development. The group was warmly welcomed by several experts and administrators from Koutoubia Holding who took the group on a tour of their production facilities. The group was able to witness first hand the high standards of quality of the Koutoubia operation.
In Rabat, the group visited the Department of Sustainable Development in Hay Riad where Mrs. Bouchra Fari presented national programs to promote environmental awareness, and Dr. Loubna El Abed and Mr. Mohamed Amounass discussed opportunities for waste valorization. The group then visited the Department of Renewable Energies and Energy Efficiency in Agdal, where a team of experts and engineers explained to the group with explicit detail pivotal strategies and programs launched by the Ministry to develop renewable energies in Morocco.
The group of 11 students included 10 enrolled in Hands-on Multidisciplinary Research: Sustainability and Biodiesel Production from Waste Chicken Fat, co-taught by Dr. Samir El Hajjaji, Dr. Zaynab El Bernoussi, and Dr. Abderrazzak El Boukili, and one student enrolled in Environmental Engineering, taught by Dr. Abdelkrim Ouardaoui.
