AUI Partners with Al Ghurair STEM on Scholars Program

In 2016, the Abdulla Al Ghurair Foundation launched the Al Ghurair STEM (Science, Technology Engineering, and Math) Scholars Program, a program which enables the foundation to provide opportunities to support underprivileged and ambitious Arab youths seeking to pursue a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a STEM-related field at top universities in the region and abroad.

For those who have never heard of the Al Ghurair Foundation, it is one of the most generous education-orientated philanthropic initiatives in the world. The program in question works alongside sixteen separate partner universities—of which Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane is one—in order to pair aspiring students with the university that is best geared towards their intellectual orientation.

This program supports Arab youths who have high academic achievement and leadership potential, but who require financial support to pursue a top-quality education at one of the Foundation’s 16 different partner universities. Al Ghurair scholars are selected on a competitive basis and are offered financial support to cover their tuition, including for English language preparation, health insurance, housing, a monthly allowance for living costs and other university expenses. Equally important, the Foundation and AUI will work together to ensure that Al Ghurair scholars are supported through access to academic and career guidance and opportunities to develop their skills in order to graduate ready for the job market. If students are selected by the Foundation and gain admission to AUI, they can join a network of 1,500 Al Ghurair scholars as of the Fall 2018 term.

AUI is the Foundation’s first and only partner university in Morocco, and has been working alongside the Foundation in order to invite students from Morocco and the Arab World at large to apply for the chance to study at AUI through this unique scholarship program. Applications can be submitted until January 14th, 2018 through the Foundation online application portal. In parallel, students are expected to work on their AUI application.
