Two more SSE Programs Accredited by ABET

Al Akhawayn University of Ifrane is proud to announce that two additional SSE programs, General Engineering and Engineering and Management Science, have been accredited by the Computing and Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET, the globally recognized accreditor for college and university programs in computing, applied science, engineering, and engineering technology. This includes the BS in Computer Science which obtained international accreditation back in 2011, and has had its accreditation renewed.

The accreditation is effective as of 1 January 2017 and valid for six years. While the ABET accreditation confirms that the School of Science and Engineering’s programs comply with the highest educational standards, it also demonstrates its development and continued commitment to advancing engineering education and practice. There are only 4 other universities in Africa with ABET accredited programs, one in South Africa and three in Egypt, putting AUI in the company of all of the recognized engineering programs of North America, as well as a large and growing number globally, including in particular a strong recent growth in the Middle East.

The process for each program involves a rigorous self-study of achievement of the criteria, followed by a careful analytic study by a team of external evaluators, a long period of review of the report of the team, leading to final confirmation which we have just received.

To date, over 3,700 programs at more than 750 colleges and universities in 30 countries have received ABET accreditation. Approximately 85,000 students graduate from ABET-accredited programs each year, and millions of graduates have received degrees from ABET-accredited programs since 1932." from
