AUI Alumnus Reda Dalil Wins the La Mamounia Literary Award
On September, 20, Reda Dalil received the fifth annual La Mamounia Literary Award for his first novel, “Le Job.” Out of eight novels, his work was quickly chosen as the jury’s favorite, designating it the best Moroccan Francophone literary work for the time period between June 2013 and May 2014.
Dalil graduated from Al Akhawayn University School of Business Administration in 2001. After studying business and finance, he decided to engage his passions for journalism and writing. In “Le Job,” his widely acclaimed first novel, Dalil dissects the socio-economic deprivation that youths in Casablanca face. He relates the story of Ghali, a recent graduate who struggles to find employment. After failing to find a job, Ghali feels broken, depressed and unable to begin anew. In his struggle, Ghali is representative of a large number of Moroccan graduates in their quest to find a job and start a decent life.
Through his simple, precise and complex writing, Dalil perfectly reflects the problems of his generation and country.
