The Water Governance & Risk Evaluation of Water Integrity Kickoff Workshop was inaugurated in the presence of Water Minister Mrs. Charafat Afailal, Al Akhawayn University president Dr. Driss Ouaouicha, Ifrane Governor Mohamed Benribag, and the president of the Agency for the Prevention of Corruption Abdeslam Aboudrar.
Following an international tender by the Governance Facility of the UNDP at the International Water Institute, Stockholm (SIWI), Al Akhawayn University has been selected to become a national program partner for capacity building on the integrity of water in the MENA region for the period 2014 to 2017.
As a national partner, AUI is part of a consortium of five institutions to implement the program activities. It must perform three tasks in particular:
- Conduct a national study to identify the principal risks to the integrity of the water in the country.
- Provide logistics for five teams of executives, in 2015.
- Carry out follow-up activities with the beneficiaries of the training.
The National Partner will work closely with SIWI and other consortium members in Jordan, Lebanon, Palestine and Tunisia and is also expected to carry out other activities directly related to the appropriate program in both parties : Water Governance and Risk Evaluation.
Among the objectives of the workshop is assessing risks to integrity in the management of water resources and capacity building. This workshop seeks to engage all stakeholders involved in the management of water resources.
The workshop covered three major panels, the first one about integrity in the management of water resources in Morocco, the second one about integrity in services related to water and the final one about assessment of risk to integrity in the field of water and identification of training needs.
