Insights into International Trade
Ifrane, October 10, 2012 – Marta Moya Diaz, an expert in international trade and policy, met with Al Akhawayn business students during her presentation on the “EU-Morocco Trade Relations”, held on October 8, 2012 at Al Akhawayn campus in Ifrane and organized by Al Akhawayn student-run Marketing Club.
In her address to Al Akhawayn students, Marta Moya Diaz, Head of the Trade Section at the European Union Delegation in Morocco, reflected on her professional career path and the impact of choices one makes in their own education and career. Moya Diaz highlighted the advantages of the liberal arts education at Al Akhawayn University where students are exposed to an array of disciplines and languages that are essential in today’s competitive world.
“Al Akhawayn University is located in a privileged geographical place,” said Moya Diaz. “Students here have a close eye on the world around them and have already crossed half of the way in career preparation thanks to their language skills and the global training they receive.” Moya Diaz advised the students to be open to and benefit from the choices and opportunities they encounter, for a positive learning experience.
Moya Diaz’s presentation focused on commerce and trade between the EU and Morocco, the regional context, the objective of the EU’s trade politics in the Euro-Mediterranean region, the Fair Trade label, EU partnerships and agreements, and more.
“Having Ms. Moya Diaz among us is a great opportunity for our students to step into the real world of global business,” said Nicolas Hamelin, Assistant Professor of Marketing and Management at Al Akhawayn and Advisor to the Marketing Club. “She brings many years of leadership experience as a lawyer, an EU policy coordinator in charge of market access, trade and development, as well as a policy coordinator for the ASEAN Countries.”
