89 Graduates from Al Akhawayn's Azrou Center for Community Development
Ifrane, July 24, 2012 – Al Akhawayn Azrou Center for Community Development celebrated 89 fresh graduates during its 10th Graduation Ceremony on Tuesday, July 17, 2012, at Al Akhawayn campus in Ifrane.
The Azrou Center’s Class of 2012 includes 21 graduates of the Computer Graphics and Multimedia program, 21 graduates of the Information Technologies and Web Development program, 21 graduates of the Commerce program, 22 graduates of the Hair and Beauty program, and 4 graduates of the Sewing program. All graduates come from different cities in Morocco: Azrou, Afourer, Beni Mellal, Ain Leuh, El Hajeb, Errachidia, Fez, Khenifra, Meknes, Rabat, Sidi Kacem, Nador, Oujda, and more.
The Azrou Center’s 10th Graduation Ceremony marks 10 years of remarkable presence of the Center in the region of Ifrane and Azrou; offering free classes and training programs to the youth and helping them integrate a competitive job market.
More than 150 people were present at the ceremony.
"Al Akhawayn Azrou Center for Community Development plays a key role in the region's development at several levels," said President Driss Ouaouicha. "The success of the Center's graduates today is also our success."
"More than 82% of our graduates have fully integrated the job market since 2002," said Malika Benbella, Director of the Azrou Center for Community Development. “Seventeen of our graduates currently work of at Al Akhawayn University either as interns or as full-time staff."
The graduation ceremony program included a panoply of shows. Graduates showcased their talents and productions in their respective majors: short movies, fashion shows, and more.
"I am very excited today that I will be receiving my diploma," said Abderrahmane, a Computer Graphics and Multimedia student. "Everyone in the Center has been very helpful throughout my academic journey."
During the ceremony, President Driss Ouaouicha received an award from the Azrou Center for Community Development in recognition for his continuous support to the Center's wide range of activities.
Al Akhawayn Azrou Center for Community Development was inaugurated by His Royal Highness Crown Prince Moulay Rachid in 2000. The Azrou Center was founded in October 2002 with the help of donations by the Prince of Saudi Arabia, Abdelaziz Ibn Fahd. The Center’s mission is to contribute to the improvement of living conditions of the population of Azrou and its region at the social, medical, and educational levels. The Center is the social branch of Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane.
The activities of the Azrou Center can be divided into two major areas: medical side through awareness sessions related to health education, medical campaigns in various disciplines: ophthalmology, gynecology, hygiene, screening for breast) and educational section throughout literacy classes, introductory courses in French, sessions on human rights, information sessions on the new Family Code, educational sessions on topics related to environmental and social issues and others.
