Al Akhawayn University in Ifrane - Credit Transfer, Grades, and Transcripts

Credit Transfer, Grades, and Transcripts

Students who pass their courses while on study abroad may expect the credits and possibly grades to be transferred to their home institution. In general, AUI and study abroad partners send/receive official transcripts to/from partner institutions, and universities determine which credits and grades will be transferred.

For AUI students returning from study abroad:

The OIP receives the transcript, confirms that the pre- or post-approval process has been completed properly.  When this is complete, the OIP makes a scanned copy to keep on record and then sends the original transcript to the Registrar’s Office for processing. The Registrar’s Office will check the transcript and the pre/post-approval form and then the earned credits will be entered into the student’s Academic Record. The name of the institution attended and the title of the courses and the credits earned will appear on the student’s AUI official transcript.

Passing grades and impact on CGPA/scholarship depends on GPA

A passing grade awarded by the host intuition will be transferred to the student’s transcript at AUI. Grades earned do not transfer and have no impact on the CGPA at AUI.

Though specific grades earned at a partner institution will not transfer to a student’s AUI transcript, students with scholarships must achieve grades equivalent to A’s and B’s in order to maintain their scholarships.

N.B. Students will be responsible for understanding the grading and credit system of their study abroad institution.

For example, the European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System (ECTS) is distinct from the Semester Credit Hour system used in many American system institutions, including AUI. ECTS seeks to represent student workload and learning achieved in a course. While both the American system and ECTS use letter grades, the value of these letter grades does differ from one system to another across Europe. ECTS ensures that a student’s grade abroad reflects the grade that he/she would have earned at AUI.

For inbound students at AUI returning to their host institution

The OIP works with the Registrar to send one official AUI transcript to the host institution, program provider, or student address of record. This is then used to transfer appropriate credits and grades to the student's academic record.

For additional transcripts, study abroad students must request the following this procedure:
