Rules & Regulations

Students should abide by the policies and regulations of AUI and the Housing Office during their stay on campus. All AUI students should behave in a mature manner that leads to a constructive, quiet and enjoyable living environment. Students who violate the Housing policies will be subject to disciplinary action, which may include expulsion from University Housing. In situations not covered by specific regulations, the student should use common sense and behave himself/herself in a mature way.

A- Strictly Segregated Student Residence Buildings

Students must not have access to the residence of the opposite sex (unless the student is next of kin) An authorization must be obtained from the housing office. Any violation is subject to severe disciplinary action, including expulsion.

B- Check-in/Check-out Procedures

Check in Procedures
After the registration, Students have to make sure they sign their check in forms of rooms they are assigned and get their keys. The housing officer does the check in procedure before the arrival of students. It is very important for the student to review the room status and report any discrepancy to the housing officer. If no comments are addressed to the housing office, the student then will assume any damage found in his/her room later at check out.

Check Out Procedures
Students who wish to leave AUI must be checked out of their rooms. When the check out period is announced, The student has to inform his/her housing officer in charge  of his/her building and sets up a schedule for check out. Check out is done at the presence of a housing officer and the student.  It is very vital to know that the housing officer will not proceed if the room is not clean or if the belongings are not removed. The check out procedure is as follows:

  1. The housing officer identifies any discrepancy in the room based on  the check in form done at the beginning of the semester.
  2. It is very important that this clearance be done thoroughly. The student will be charged for any damage found in the room that is not mentioned in the check in form. The housing officer reports the room status to the housing office. The report will be considered as essential when billing the student for damages.
  3. All keys must be returned.
  4. All blankets and pillows must be returned
  5. Students who do not perform check out will be subject to additional fines.

Failing to opt for one of the above solutions, these students are charged for a single occupancy.D- Room Consolidation

E- Room Change Policy

The University seeks a simple goal: provide a clean safe and quiet environment where mutual respect for the other prevails. 2. Room changes are permitted during the first 2 weeks after the check-in period. After 2 weeks deadline, room changes have to be authorized by the Supervisors of Female or Male Dorms considering the seriousness of the request.
  3. All students making room changes must be properly checked in and out of their respective rooms by a Resident Hall Director in accordance with the check-in and checkout policies.
  4. Students who change rooms without the permission of the Housing Office will have to move back to their assigned rooms. They may also be charged for damages found in the room, and/or maybe subject to disciplinary action.
