“Hand in Hand” is a philanthropic and community development  association created in 1996 and run by Al Akhawayn University (AUI) students. The creation of Hand in Hand is part of AUI’s mission and responsibility toward the region of Ifrane and its population. In particular, it contributes to the educational and social development of the region. In order to improve the literacy rate and prevent school attrition, schooling of children is at the forefront of the association’s agenda. Through a major annual fundraiser and the support of partners and sponsors, the student volunteers of the Hand in Hand Association work on poverty alleviation, capacity building and community development projects. Since its inception, it has carried out several major projects and provided tutoring, medical campaigns, firewood, winter clothing, school supplies, and so on to local pupils and the needy population in general.
